Vestigia (lat): traces, remains of what once was

Do you remember the last time you walked bair footed? Or the last time you lied? What about that time you were afraid of an animal?

There is inevitably something sentimental about reminiscing and looking back at one´s own history. It is like day-dreaming, one can make time for it when everything else “important” is done. Today, we are surrounded by more means than ever to help us archive our memories. Yet, the action of remembering cannot be left fully to something outside the body: one have to take part in it with thoughts, words and movements. In this piece, the eight dancers from ESC youth company has made movements with their own, personal memories as a starting point. They are actively listening to how the music and the movements are crossing each other, and perhaps this is similar to our collective memory; in between the choir of single memories, moments of recognition and connection can occur.
