The piece Gigant (giant) is made for six dancers and the source of inspiration is the Norwegian folklore tale Oskoreia. Every year at Christmas Eve, one had to securely lock all doors, for it was said that a horde of creatures would ride across the sky to steal everything in their way, and even kidnap horses and people. The horde consisted of figures considered to have a low sense of moral, for instance liars, drunks and other trouble makers. They where not good enough for even, nor bad enough for hell; instead they where doomed to an eternal in-between state, always to travel and never to rest. As the figures often are associated with loneliness, we were curious to explore a choreography on how altruism would work in this kind of group. What is it to help someone, is it a positive action or does it also have potential for further destruction?
